Progress in Earthquake Sciences (PES) is governed by China Association of Science and Technology, sponsored by Seismological Society of China (SSC) and Institute of Geophysics, China Earthquake Administration, and co-sponsored by Fujian Earthquake Agency. PES was established in 1971 (formerly known as Seismological News Abroad and later as Recent Developments in World Seismology) and was renamed to Progress in Earthquake Sciences in 2020.

The journal has a large circulation and a short turnaround time of publishing. Its high standard of academic quality and substantial content facilitates the advance of seismological research and is widely recognized by the research community.

Aim:

The journal aims to publish scientific and technological achievements in earthquake science research, exchange information on earthquake monitoring and prediction, earthquake disaster prevention and disaster reduction at home and abroad, and promote development of seismological research and technology.

Columns:

Review, Articles, Earthquake Science Popularization, Progress in Major Engineering and Scientific Projects, Debate and Discussion, Application of Earthquake Scientific Data, People and Organization, SSC Special, etc.

Scope:

PES publishes original papers advancing understanding of seismology and seismic hazard analyses, as well as review articles summarizing important research topics. Topics published include, but are not limited to:

● The latest innovative scientific achievements and new discoveries in the fields of seismic monitoring and prediction, seismic hazard prevention, emergency rescue, as well as reviews of frontier studies.

● Academic discussion and exploration for different ideas in seismology research.

● Review, summary and comment on earthquake sciences.

● Message of SSC activities and progress of national key research projects.

Readers:

The aimed readers are scholars and technicians in seismology and related disciplines, seismic personnel, researchers, professors and students of relevant studies, and management staff in relevant fields.
