Design of evaluation standard for lightning protection effectiveness of seismic station

  • This paper designs the lightning protection efficiency evaluation standard for seismic station based on the practical experience of the comprehensive lightning protection reconstruction project in Chongqing Earthquake Agency. The standard collected basic data from 21 lightning protection reconstruction stations in Chongqing, and analyzed data such as running state of observation system, key parameters of lightning protection, lightning strike situation, maintenance records before and after the reconstruction. Through continuous optimization of the evaluation model, we finally obtained a more accurate evaluation formula using the constrained linear least-squares method, so as to evaluate the lightning protection effect and effectiveness of seismic station correctly. This standard is the implementation and perform of seismic industry standard “DB/T68-2017: Integrated Lightning Protection of Seismic Stations” in Chongqing area, and it is also an exploration and attempt of seismic standardization and informational in lightning protection of seismic stations. The establishment and implementation of the standards can also provide a set of operational standards and application examples for the lightning protection works in similar provincial seismic network.
