Contrastive analysis of seismic magnitudes before and after earthquake simulation for Hubei seismic network

  • According to the requirements of seismic cataloguing in the operation and management rules of Seismic Network of the China Earthquake Administration, the magnitude of earthquake should be measured after WA simulation of seismic waveform. In this paper, 68 earthquake events with ML≥2.0 recorded by Hubei Digital Seismological Network from January 2016 to December 2018 are compared and analyzed before and after simulation in magnitude, and their deviations are given. The results show that the magnitudes after simulation are mostly larger than those before simulation with magnitude difference less than 0.4. It provides a reference for the determination of the magnitude of the Hubei Seismic Network. Simulated magnitude is not used for quick report, but it can be used for cataloguing and researcher.
