Comparison of local magnitudes for seismic events recorded by Jiangxi seismic network:Application of new national magnitude standards

  • Local magnitude(ML)is the primary magnitude scale calculated for Jiangxi region. In this study, we re-calculated ML with new calibration functions using data recorded by the Jiangxi seismic network between August 2011 and February 2018 with magnitude ML≥1.5. The obtained magnitudes were compared with the previous values. Our results show that the implementation of the new calibration functions leads to a better constrained magnitude value of each station and a more reliable estimation for the event magnitude.
