Study on the cause of short-term rise of water level in Bengbu monitoring center well

  • Based on the previous study on the long-term rise of water level in Bengbu monitoring center well, we analyze 59 short-time rises of the water level in Bengbu monitoring center well from 2017 to 2020. By selecting rainfall parameters in different periods andestablishing multiple regression equations, the results show that there is a certain relationship between 59 short-term rise of water level and some rainfall parameters. According to the analysis results of earthquake cases above ML2.0 and 13 non rainfall events around Bengbu, the surrounding area of Bengbu is mainly affected by ML2.0—3.0 earthquakes, with slightly weaker crustal stress release and minimal impact on underground fluids in Bengbu. Earthquakes above ML3.0 mainly occurred in the west of Anhui Province and near the Tanlu fault zone, with strong seismic activity. The observation data of underground fluid in Bengbu changed greatly and lasted longer. It is concluded that the short-time rise of water level is related to the change of crustal stress in Bengbu area while excluding the influence of rainfall. It can be seen that Bengbu monitoring center well has a certain prediction efficiency, which can reflect the changes of seismic stress field around Bengbu, and is of great significance for the analysis and prediction of earthquake precursor observation data.
