Abstract: Although China has promulgated a series of laws, regulations and government regulations to standardize the environmental protection for earthquake monitoring, the destruction of seismic monitoring facilities and observation environment is still occurring. There are more and more contradictions between the earthquake monitoring and the service of local economic construction. The current environmental protection system for seismic monitoring needs to be discussed and improved. This paper makes a comparison between the current protection system of the state and that of the provinces and cities as well as a lateral comparison with the environmental protection system for meteorological observation. Further improvements for the environmental protection system are discussed.
