Abstract: A suggestion is made that the slip vector(s) should be included in the beachball presentation of a focal mechanism, so that the characteristics of the earthquake fault could be presented more intuitively. Two examples showing the beachball presentation in the Matlab environment are given in this paper, one with real data and one with synthetic data.
