Abstract:
We analyzed the spatial relationship between seismic activity on the land and main faults of Jiangsu Province and its adjacent areas since 1970, as well as the spatial changes in the main areas of seismic activity in different time periods. This allowed the spatiotemporal distribution of land seismic activity in Jiangsu Province to be discussed. The nearest fault and distance of all earthquakes were analyzed and identified using the near analysis tool of ArcGIS. An overall trend was found. With an increase in the distance between the epicenter and the nearest fault, the number of earthquakes decreased. Using this method, we identified situations in which a large number of earthquakes occurred at a specific location and the control of different faults on seismic activity is not the same. In general, when the fault activity time is closer, the earthquake control is stronger, indicating a closer relationship with seismic activity. The point density analysis tool of ArcGIS was used to study the distribution of seismic activity in different periods. In recent years, seismic activity has significantly increased in certain areas, and a large number of small earthquake activities have been artificially induced. Therefore, how to distinguish and analyze them is a question worth considering.
