Abstract:
By analyzing the spatial relationship between seismic activity on the land of Jiangsu Province and the main faults in Jiangsu Province and its adjacent areas since 1970, and the spacial changes of the main areas of seismic activity in different time periods, the spatial and temporal distribution of land seismic activity of Jiangsu Province is discussed. The nearest fault and distance of all earthquakes are analyzed and got by using the “Near analysis” tool of ArcGIS. It is found that on the overall trend, with the increase of the distance between the epicenter and the nearest fault, the number of earthquakes decreases. Through this method, we can identify some situations in which a large number of earthquakes occurred at a specific location. The control of different faults on seismic activity is not the same. Generally speaking, the closer the fault activity time is, the stronger the control of the earthquake is, and the closer the relationship with seismic activity is. The “Point density analysis” tool of ArcGIS is used to study the distribution of seismic activity in different periods. In recent years, seismic activity has increased significantly in some areas. In recent years, a large number of small earthquake activities in some areas may be artificially induced, so how to distinguish and analyze them is also a question worth considering.
