Abstract:
The high density of strong motion statoins around Capital region makes the high ability of strong motion observation than other regions in China. An
MS5.1 earthquake shook the Guye, Tangshan in Hebei Province at 6:38 on July 12, 2020. Strong-motion stations and simple intensity stations totally obtained 363 three-component strong-motion recordings in this earthquake. After processing these recordings, we drew the contours for peak ground acceleration (PGA) and velocity (PGV), respectively. This earthquake caused the intense ground shaking in a local area around the epicenter. However, the stronger shaking occurred in the area located in Ninghe, Tanggu, and Baodi of Tianjin far from the epicenter, which was found to be the macroseismic intensity anomaly area in the 1976 Tangshan earthquake. We further analyzed the attenuation characteristics of PGA and PGV. The attenuation relationship for the fifth zonation map of East China can describe the attenuation with distance for PGAs and PGVs in this earthquake.
